Erwin Park Brings Prairie Restoration and Trail Riding to McKinney
North of McKinney, Erwin Park is rougher than a tidy neighborhood park. Its 212 acres include three pavilions, 12 campfire sites, and a trail system.
The trails range from natural-surface paths to mountain-bike routes maintained by the Dallas Off-Road Bicycle Association. The park also carries on Blackland Prairie restoration with native wildflowers and grasses.
For north McKinney and nearby rural roads, Erwin is a close place to step into the older landscape. Campfire sites shine on cool evenings. The singletrack rides best after the prairie clay has dried.
