The Historic Battlefield Trail Is Brownsville's Bike Spine
The Historic Battlefield Trail is Brownsville's everyday bike and walking route. The city describes it as a nine-mile path from Linear Park to Palo Alto Battlefield National Historical Park. That park marks the first major battle of the Mexican-American War.
It is built for more than exercise. Brownsville calls it the spine of the hike-and-bike network. Along the way are historic and cultural stops, rest areas, water fountains, info kiosks, and a bike repair station at Linear Park.
For residents, the trail makes it more realistic to cross Brownsville on foot or bike. Ordinary trips and local history share the same route.
