Combes is a small town in Cameron County, about 27 miles northwest of Brownsville in the Rio Grande Valley near the southern tip of Texas. The surrounding land is flat delta country given over to citrus groves, vegetable farming, and other irrigated agriculture. It sits within the string of communities strung along the highway corridor that runs up the Valley.
