Harlingen is a city in Cameron County in the Rio Grande Valley of deep South Texas, about 23 miles northwest of Brownsville. It sits on the flat, subtropical delta plain of the lower Rio Grande, a region of citrus groves, vegetable farming, and irrigated cropland. The city serves as a commercial and transportation hub for the central Valley, with an airport and access routes connecting the surrounding border communities.
