Set in the Rio Grande Valley of Hidalgo County, Donna is a city about 12 miles east of McAllen, in the flat farming country of deep South Texas near the Rio Grande. The area is part of the Valley's citrus and vegetable belt, where the mild winters and irrigated fields support year-round agriculture.
