Weslaco, Texas

Weslaco is a city in Hidalgo County in the Rio Grande Valley of far South Texas, set in the flat, intensively farmed delta country north of the Rio Grande and about 15 miles east of McAllen. The surrounding land is given over to citrus groves, vegetable fields, and other irrigated agriculture that has long defined the mid-Valley economy. The area's warm subtropical climate and proximity to the river and its wetlands also make it a well-known spot for birding.
