Alamo, Texas

Alamo is a city in the Lower Rio Grande Valley of Hidalgo County, about 7 miles east of McAllen in an irrigated stretch of subtropical farmland. The area is known for its citrus groves and vegetable farms, and just south of town along the Rio Grande lies the Santa Ana National Wildlife Refuge, a noted destination for birders and one of the richest wildlife habitats in the Valley.
