Transfer a Vehicle Title at the Lubbock County Tax Office

A vehicle sale in Lubbock County is not done until the title work reaches the Tax Assessor-Collector. The main counter is at 916 Main Street. The county also has a Slaton office if that is the shorter drive.

When possible, the buyer and seller should go together. It keeps both names on one set of papers and makes missing signatures easier to catch. TxDMV gives the buyer 30 days to move the title into their name. After that, penalties can start.

Bring the signed title, Form 130-U, proof of insurance, and the odometer reading. A missing signature is the classic reason a quick title transfer turns into a second trip.
