Ransom Canyon is a small town in Lubbock County on the South Plains, about 11 miles east of Lubbock. It sits along the caprock breaks where the Yellow House Canyon cuts into the otherwise flat High Plains, and the community developed as a residential town built around a small lake in the canyon. The setting is unusual for the region, offering rugged canyon terrain amid the surrounding level farmland.
