Scenic Drive Turns Into a Sunday Walking Route
Scenic Drive is El Paso's old overlook road, set along the lower Franklin Mountains with the city, the valley, and the mountains of Mexico below it. On paper, the route is the Scenic Drive Linear Trail, a 1.8-mile paved path between Rim Road and Wheeling Avenue.
On Sunday mornings, the city closes the road to cars for Scenic Sundays. The overlook turns into a walking, jogging, and biking route, which is one of those small weekly habits that helps explain El Paso.
Weather, events, or city work can change the closure. The trail page is useful when your Sunday plan depends on that car-free stretch.
