New Rural Structures Need a Collin County 9-1-1 Address
A rural address is more than a mailbox number. It tells a dispatcher where a fire truck should turn.
Collin County assigns a 9-1-1 address when a structure is built on or moved to a previously vacant site. The address request rides with the permit package through Development Services. Houses, mobile homes, barns, shops, garages, businesses, water towers, and cell towers can each need an address.
For a new structure on acreage, handle the address with the permit package. For something already built, GIS and Rural Addressing staff can look up the assigned address unless a pending permit question is in the way.
