Public Pools Need the Right Annual Health Permit

A pool can become a public-health permit issue once it serves more than one household. That can include apartment pools, HOA pools, hotel pools, and splashpads.

Collin County issues those permits only in unincorporated areas and in Wylie, Melissa, Lowry Crossing, Weston, Josephine, and Farmersville. In those places, the operator uses the county portal for an Annual Health Permit.

Elsewhere, the city handles the permit. A backyard pool for one family is different. The line gets blurry when tenants or guests share the water, so a rental home, small lodging site, or neighborhood pool should find the right permit office first.
