City of Dallas garage sales need an online permit

Inside Dallas city limits, a garage sale needs a city permit before items go out for sale. It is not just a few signs and folding tables on the lawn.

The permit covers a normal household sale. It does not stretch to community sales, food vending, car washes, or flea-market setups. The city allows permits for single-family homes, churches, Dallas ISD schools, and residential estate sales.

Use the city's online permit page while you are planning the sale. If the house is in another suburb or outside city limits, the rules may be different.
