Cedar Hill State Park Gives Dallas County Lake and Prairie Space
Cedar Hill State Park gives Dallas County a lake-and-prairie outing without leaving the county line. The park covers 1,826 acres on Joe Pool Lake in southwest Dallas County and opened to the public in 1991.
You can hike, bike, picnic, camp, swim, fish, boat, paddle, or geocache there. The terrain is the surprise: limestone hills, rare pockets of native prairie, lake access, and the Penn Farm Agricultural History Center.
That mix makes the park feel far from the flat freeway version of Dallas. TPWD keeps the live word on trails, camping, ramps, events, and park alerts.
