Selling Food in McLennan County Means a Permit From the Health District First
Before the first plate goes out, food businesses run through Waco-McLennan Public Health. The Environmental Health Division inspects restaurants, convenience stores, grocery areas, school cafeterias, bars, mobile vendors, and temporary booths at festivals or games.
The path depends on what you run. A temporary booth at one event has its own packet, fee, and deadline. A farmers-market vendor cooking on site uses a different packet. A full restaurant is another track again.
The division takes calls at (254) 750-5467. That is a cheaper conversation than buying equipment for a setup the inspector will not sign off on.
