City Trailheads Put Mountain Trails Inside Daily Life
In many El Paso neighborhoods, the mountains are not a weekend destination. They start near the end of the street. The city trailhead list includes names like Lost Dog, Lazy Cow, Chuck Heinrich, Roundhouse, Palisades Canyon, and Thousand Steps.
Those trailheads feed into mountain, canyon, paved, and natural-surface routes, with maps linked from the same city page. Some improvements are still planned or under construction, so the system keeps changing.
For residents, this is the everyday version of the Franklin Mountains. Use the trailhead page first, especially if you are counting on a newer access point or a specific improvement.
