Beach Driving on Follett's Island Still Requires a Street-Legal Vehicle

Follett's Island is a 13-mile public beach along Bluewater Highway, also called CR 257. There is no fee or permit to camp, park, or drive there.

The easy access comes with plain rules. Any vehicle driven on the beach has to be street legal. Glass is not allowed, trash belongs in cans, pets need leashes, and the protected dunes are off-limits.

Small campsite fires depend on county fire rules. Treat the sand like a road with softer shoulders: stay out of the dunes, keep the vehicle legal, and give yourself room before the tide or soft sand makes the day harder.
