Wickett, Texas

Wickett is a small town in Ward County, in the Permian Basin country of West Texas, set on the flat oil-and-gas plains about 42 miles southwest of Odessa. It grew up during the West Texas oil boom of the late 1920s as a tank farm and shipping point along the railroad, and petroleum has long been the anchor of the local economy. The surrounding landscape is open desert and mesquite scrub.
