Monahans, Texas

Monahans is a city in Ward County, in the West Texas oil country roughly 44 miles southwest of Odessa. It lies along Interstate 20 amid the flat, sandy terrain of the Permian Basin, an area shaped by petroleum production and ranching. Just outside town, Monahans Sandhills State Park preserves a stretch of wind-sculpted dunes that rise above the surrounding plain.
