Vega is a small city in Oldham County on the High Plains of the Texas Panhandle, about 35 miles west of Amarillo. It sits on the flat, treeless llano along Interstate 40, which follows the route of the historic U.S. Route 66 through town. The surrounding country is given over to wheat farming and cattle ranching.
