Tuscola is a small town in southern Taylor County, about 17 miles south of Abilene in the rolling ranch country of West Texas where the plains begin to break toward the mesas and cedar hills. The surrounding land is given over largely to ranching and dry-country farming, and the community serves as a rural center for the scattered homes and spreads south of the Abilene metropolitan area.
