Tye, Texas
Set on the flat West Texas plains just west of Abilene in Taylor County, Tye adjoins Dyess Air Force Base, and the base grew from an airfield first built near the town during World War II. Interstate 20 passes close by, and the community's fortunes have long been tied to the base and to the larger city of Abilene next door.
