Taft, Texas

Set on the coastal plain of the Coastal Bend about 12 miles north of Corpus Christi, Taft is a small city in San Patricio County. It grew up in the early twentieth century as a company town developed by the sprawling Taft Ranch (the Coleman-Fulton Pasture Company), which turned the surrounding land into farms and pasture for cotton and cattle. The country around it is flat farmland close to the bays and estuaries of the Gulf.
