Sunnyvale is a town in eastern Dallas County, situated about 14 miles east of downtown Dallas and just south of Garland, along the shore of Lake Ray Hubbard. It has retained a largely low-density, semi-rural residential character within the Dallas-Fort Worth metropolitan area, distinguished by larger lots and open land. The lake and surrounding creeks shape much of its eastern edge.
