Mesquite, Texas
Mesquite is a city in Dallas County immediately east of Dallas, part of the Dallas-Fort Worth metropolitan area, sitting on the blackland prairie about 13 miles east of downtown Dallas. Once a farming community on the rail line, it grew into a substantial suburb over the 20th century. It carries the state designation of Rodeo Capital of Texas and is known for its long-running championship rodeo held through the summer months.

Dallas County Was Created in 1846
Texas formed Dallas County on March 30, 1846, from parts of Nacogdoches and Robertson counties, and the city of Dallas became county seat after a close vote in 1850.
