Richmond, Texas

Richmond is a city in Fort Bend County, on the Brazos River in the coastal-plain country southwest of Houston, sitting just west of Sugar Land and about 26 miles from Houston. It is the seat of Fort Bend County and preserves a good deal of early Texas history, including sites tied to the state's frontier and Republic-era past. The land around it is flat, fertile bottomland along the river, historically given over to farming and now increasingly suburban.
