Set in the North Texas countryside of northeastern Denton County, Pilot Point lies about 16 miles northeast of Denton amid the gently rolling grassland and horse pastures of the region. The area is known for its ranches and thoroughbred and Quarter Horse breeding operations, part of the broader horse country north of the Dallas-Fort Worth metroplex. A small historic town square anchors the community, which sits near the shores of Lake Ray Roberts.
