Tioga, Texas

Tioga is a town in Grayson County in North Texas, in the gently rolling country about 22 miles northeast of Denton. It first drew attention in the late nineteenth century for mineral springs whose waters were promoted as medicinal, making the town a health resort in its heyday. Tioga is also known as the birthplace of the singing cowboy and film star Gene Autry, who was born near the town in 1907.
