Murchison is a small city in Henderson County, in the East Texas Piney Woods about 27 miles west of Tyler. It lies in a region of pine and hardwood forest, rolling terrain, and scattered lakes and creeks typical of the eastern part of the state. The surrounding country is rural and wooded, set among the small communities of the Athens area.
