Located in southeastern Dallas County about 17 miles east of downtown Dallas, Seagoville sits on the gently rolling terrain of the Blackland Prairie at the edge of the Dallas-Fort Worth metropolitan area. Once a rural farming community, it has grown into a residential suburb while retaining open land and small-town character along its outer edges. The city lies near the Trinity River bottomlands that spread across the southeastern reaches of the county.
