Fritch lies in Hutchinson County in the Panhandle, about 32 miles northeast of Amarillo, in the broken plains and canyon country along the Canadian River. The town sits near Lake Meredith, a reservoir on the Canadian that draws boaters and anglers, and near the Alibates Flint Quarries National Monument, where prehistoric peoples mined flint for thousands of years. The landscape mixes flat High Plains grassland with the rugged breaks that drop toward the river.
