Panhandle, Texas
Panhandle is the town from which Carson County is administered, set on the flat, open High Plains of the Texas Panhandle about 28 miles east of Amarillo. The land here is treeless shortgrass prairie devoted to wheat, grain, cattle ranching, and oil and gas production, and the town grew up along the rail line that crossed the region.
