Bronte, Texas
Bronte is a town in Coke County in the semiarid ranch country of West Texas, about 30 miles north of San Angelo and roughly 51 miles southwest of Abilene. The town was named for the English novelist Charlotte Brontë and lies in the dry, rolling terrain drained by the Colorado River, near Oak Creek Reservoir. Ranching and, later, oil have shaped the surrounding country.
