Winters, Texas
Winters sits in Runnels County, on the open rolling plains where the rangeland of West Texas meets the edge of the Hill Country, about 37 miles southwest of Abilene. Cotton and other row crops long dominated the surrounding land, and the town developed as a commercial and shipping center for the farms and ranches around it. It continues to serve as a trade point for this agricultural stretch of the state.
