Bridge City, Texas

Bridge City sits in Orange County on the upper Gulf Coast of Texas, about 17 miles east of Beaumont, on low ground between the Neches River and Cow Bayou. The city takes its name from the Rainbow Bridge, a tall span across the Neches built in the late 1930s to carry ships toward the port of Beaumont. Its low elevation near the coast has left it exposed to hurricanes, and it was severely flooded by Hurricane Ike in 2008 before rebuilding.
