Bangs is a small city in Brown County, in the transitional country between the Central Texas hills and the West Texas plains, about 62 miles southeast of Abilene. The land around it is rolling rangeland and farmland marked by oak, mesquite, and open pasture. It sits just west of Brownwood along the highway corridor that ties the small towns of the county together.
