Aurora, Texas

Aurora is a small town in Wise County, about 23 miles northwest of Fort Worth, set in the rolling ranch country north of the Metroplex. It is known chiefly for the Aurora airship legend of 1897, in which a local newspaper account described a mysterious flying craft crashing into a windmill; the story endures today and the Aurora Cemetery carries a state historical marker noting the tale.
