Appleby is a small city in Nacogdoches County, in the East Texas Piney Woods, sitting among the pine forests and rolling terrain a short distance north of the city of Nacogdoches. It lies roughly 55 miles south of Longview and about 60 miles southeast of Tyler, in a wooded, rural stretch of deep East Texas.
