Running a utility line across a Van Zandt road shoulder has rules

Water, power, or fiber to rural land may need to cross county road right-of-way. Van Zandt County has rules for that. A buried line cannot sit in the center of the drainage ditch or inside an existing culvert.

If a line crosses under a road, it has to be bored or tunneled and buried at least 36 inches down. The contractor must give written notice to the precinct commissioner and get approval before work starts.
