Check Fort Bend OSSF Rules Before Changing a Septic System
A Fort Bend home on septic is using what Texas calls an on-site sewage facility, or OSSF. Environmental Health handles that work for the county through an online portal.
Applications and maintenance contracts go through the portal. An old septic system does not stay grandfathered for every change. Moving spray heads, adding lines, or changing the system can trigger a new design, permit, fee, and county signoff.
On acreage or a rural tract outside public sewer, that detail can move a closing date or repair budget. Ask Environmental Health for the current OSSF packet, inspection steps, and upkeep contract rules for the address.
