Fort Bend's Pay It Forward Program Lets Owners Escrow Property Taxes

Many mortgage holders pay property taxes through escrow. Owners without that setup may face one large bill each winter. Fort Bend Tax Office offers a one-year escrow option called Pay It Forward.

The program is allowed under Texas Tax Code Section 31.072. It lets an owner set aside money month by month toward the next tax bill. The collector sets the monthly amount so the estimated bill is covered by the target date.

The contract must include all taxing units collected by Fort Bend, not just one line. Missed payments can void the contract. Ask the Tax Office about the sign-up window, payment methods, and leftover balances.
