Burning brush in unincorporated Denton County needs a permit

Open burning in Denton County changes with weather, fire danger, and local orders. In unincorporated areas, residents need a controlled burn permit before an open outdoor burn.

A permit does not make every day a burn day. The daily decision is posted each morning between about 8 and 9 a.m. If it is a good burn day, residents can log the burn online or by phone with Emergency Services.
