Getting a Marriage License in Tarrant County

Marriage licenses in Tarrant County run through the County Clerk's Vital Records office. Both people generally show up together, either in person or over video for a formal license. Each needs a valid government photo ID.

The name on the license is copied from the ID, so spelling matters before anyone signs. A formal license has a 72-hour waiting period after it is issued.

The ceremony has to happen within 90 days. The 72-hour wait can be waived for active-duty military, by a district judge, or with a valid premarital counseling certificate.
