Marriage License Practical

Getting Married Here Means a Trip to the Clerk in Person

The County Clerk's office is in Room 124 at 400 W. Sinton Street. Both people must apply in person for a marriage license. The clerk's desk is open Monday through Friday, 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., and the main line is (361) 364-9350.

Certified copies are different. The clerk page lets you order a certified copy of a marriage license online, but that is for a license that already exists.

Plan a little breathing room. Texas law usually makes a couple wait 72 hours after the license is issued before the ceremony, unless an exception or waiver applies.
