Driveways and culverts on county right-of-way need review
A gravel driveway off a county road is not always a simple weekend job in unincorporated Fort Bend County. A new drive that crosses county right-of-way can need a county permit.
That is especially true where the drive crosses a roadside ditch. The culvert under the drive has to be sized and set so water keeps moving. A small pipe can dam the flow and push water toward the road or a neighbor.
County Engineering has rules for driveways and culverts on county easements and rights-of-way. Use the permit page for a new driveway, replacement culvert, or access promise in a sale.
