A pond or a carport in rural Ellis County still needs a county permit

Rural land still has a permit desk. A development permit covers any activity on the property. Examples include pools, sheds, ponds, tanks, shops, barns, and carports.

Bring a deed, survey, and driver's license when you apply. Plan on a one-acre minimum lot size and 150 feet of frontage on a county or state road.

Septic is separate. Aerobic systems need soil analysis, a drawing, a notarized affidavit, and a two-year service contract. Conventional systems need the analysis and drawing. Call Development before buying materials.
