Bardwell is a small city in Ellis County, in the North Texas farmland south of Dallas, about 36 miles south of the city. It lies in gently rolling prairie country near Lake Bardwell, a U.S. Army Corps of Engineers reservoir on Waxahachie Creek that carries the community's name and supplies water and recreation to the surrounding area.
