Harris County Mail Ballots Require a Fresh Application

Texas limits who can vote by mail. In Harris County, you may qualify if you are 65 or older on Election Day. You may also qualify if you are sick or disabled, due to give birth near Election Day, away from the county during voting, or in jail or civil commitment while still eligible.

An old application does not carry over forever. State law requires a fresh request each year. You can ask for every ballot that year, or for one election.

The ID number is easy to trip over. The form needs a Texas driver license number, Texas personal ID number, Election Identification Certificate number, or the last four digits of your Social Security number. Use the number that matches your voter record when you can.
