A Henderson County DBA is filed at the courthouse, not bought as a license
A sole owner or general partnership using an assumed name must file with the clerk in each county where it keeps a business office. With no Texas business office, it files in each county where it does business. Henderson County provides the local form.
Most LLCs, corporations, limited partnerships, and LLPs file with the Texas Secretary of State instead. Since September 1, 2019, these firms generally have not filed the same certificate again with the county.
A DBA is a public name record, not a business license. It also does not grant exclusive rights to the name. Sales tax, food, alcohol, trade, and city rules are separate.
