Caney City occupies a peninsula on the eastern shore of Cedar Creek Reservoir in western Henderson County, in the East Texas lake country about 45 miles west of Tyler. The small town is bounded by arms of the lake and oriented toward the water, with fishing, boating, and lakeside recreation central to its character.
